Keep your holdings and your research distinct.
What you own and what you are investigating answer different questions.
Your current portfolio is a record of holdings. A research watchlist is a record of questions and possibilities. Keeping them distinct makes both easier to understand.
Give each view a purpose
Use your portfolio workspace for the accounts and holdings you are tracking. Keep research candidates in a separate list with the reason you are investigating them.
Avoid ambiguous entries
Label hypothetical examples and incomplete records clearly. They should not look like confirmed holdings in your portfolio totals.
Preserve the context
When you update an investment record, include the account and transaction details needed to understand the change later.
